History of Battersea

Historically a part of Surrey, Battersea was an island establishment at the mouth of a small river, called Falconbrook. The area was drained and remained a farmland before the Industrial Revolution. Although it’s located in the central area of South London, for a long time it wasn’t highly popular among people looking for real estate properties, probably because of the lack of tube station.

In the past few decades Battersea had become extremely popular among young professionals and families, due to its riverside location, beautiful Victorian architecture, lovely parks and good schools.

There’s a wide range of properties for rent in the area, spanning from Mansions and converted schools to glass buildings. So far it slipped under the radar, but rent prices in Battersea seem to be steadily and swiftly on the rise. In addition, Residents of Battersea benefit from the lowest Council Tax in England.

Transportation in Battersea

Even though itdoesn’t have a tube station yet, the transportation to the centre is great, as Charing Cross is just 3 miles away. There are two train stations: Battersea Park and  Queenstown Road.

Attractions in Battersea

There are many fine restaurants to be found in the area, as well as the new Covent Garden market, which is the biggest vegetable, fruit and flow wholesale market in the UK, the Literature festival, which hosts many renowned authors, and the Battersea park, abundant with water fountains and art exhibitions, it is definitely a delight and one of the main attractions for the residents.
